Louis Vuitton, one of the world’s leading luxury fashion brands, is continuously seeking expansion opportunities in the retail industry. In 2018, the brand tested the waters by setting up a pop-up store at de Bijenkorf department store in Rotterdam, the second biggest city in the Netherlands. Now, the brand has renewed its presence in the location with a permanent shop-in-shop, showcasing its commitment to modern retail architecture and retail interior design.
The retail space is situated on the ground floor and features a robust façade and large windows overlaid with filigree-like screens depicting the luxury brand’s iconic monograms. The retail store architecture captures a modern and modular aesthetic, with warm natural materials that ooze luxury. To add character, the space includes carefully curated pieces by Dutch designer Dirk van der Kooij, Piet Hein Eek, and 1950s vintage designs by Louis van Teeffelen and Friso Kramer.
Both the women’s and men’s sections of the store feature a range of high-end products, including bags, small leather goods, shoes, and the full range of perfumes, as an olfactory bonus. The women’s department also includes a striking photograph by London-based Norwegian lensman Sølve Sundsbø.
As luxury architects and experts in retail design architecture, Gonçalo Silva Arquitetos, along with Louis Vuitton, has successfully created a space that combines modernity with sophistication. The Louis Vuitton shop-in-shop at de Bijenkorf is a testament to the brand’s commitment to building outstanding design and retail architecture.
